Thoughts on Google's big move in China

Reading many articles about the recent Google's China stance, I am very impressed with Google. Whether or not this approach is more about business thwarting Evil, this stance spotlights the censorship in China and on the Web, encouraging strong moves against the censorship on the Web.

However, the governments' role on the Web is still significant, and I see increasingly that countries are trying to make the control within their borders on the Web.

Google and other web companies will have to face increased pressures from both the governments and existing industries, such as journalisms, on their business models, which often threaten existing models.

There is no borders on the web, but these increasing pressures and continuos censorship frighten the freedom on the web. This trend will continue, and it is important to raise the awareness of this issue.
